Wingman Weekly: What Features Should a POS System Have?
A common question we receive is: what features should a Point Of Sale system have? The answer is not black and white, but the features a POS system has depends upon how you run your business and and you take payments.
One of our clients, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee of Alpharetta, went to Emory University to provide onsite coffee for everyone in the building. The problem was people in the building didn’t have time to go down to the truck and order their coffee. This led to low sales and no profitability. The solution was simple—with Wingman Payments, they utilized QR code ordering. They placed QR codes in the building for people to order coffee. Emory would send someone to pick up all the orders. This simple change not only made Emory University a profitable endeavor, it allowed Travellin’ Toms to start looking for similar jobs during truck down times.
On the back end, Travelin’ Toms and Kona Ice of Alpharetta needed unique reporting features. Since they send trucks out for jobs that last a few hours, daily reporting doesn’t paint the whole picture. With our solution, they were able to see hourly reporting, making it easy to see how each job performed. This allowed them see a detailed view of how profitable the job was.
Every business is unique. Ask yourself what your pain points are. Then see if your current merchant service provider has a solution for this pain point. It may be time to look at other options if they do not.
